Services
Available for in-person office visits or virtual telehealth appointments for residents of Wisconsin.
Initial Consultation: Free
We understand the significance of finding a therapist that truly resonates with you. Our complimentary 15-minute consultation provides you with an opportunity to gauge our compatibility and ensure that we align with your requirements. Whether you prefer in-person sessions, telehealth appointments, or phone consultations, we cater to your preferred mode of communication.
Intake Appointment
(Insurance Speak: Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation) 45-53 minutes
This is a first appointment required for all new clients. We will review confidentiality, consent, and practice policy with you at the start of the session. The rest of the session will be spent getting to know you better. We will ask about what is brining you in, the history of the problem, your general history, and goals/hopes that you may have for services. Your provider will also give you more information about their approach and what to expect for future services.
Therapy Treatment Sessions
(Insurance Speak: Individual, Family/Couple Psychotherapy) 45-53 minutes
You and your provider will discuss appropriate scheduling at the intake appointment, but we often recommend meeting weekly or bi-weekly up front. Follow-up sessions are where the healing happens. You don’t need to bring anything but yourself!
Group Therapy
90-120 minutes
We usually have one or two therapists available for group therapy sessions. If you’re interested in exploring current or upcoming group options, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
Pricing
Most of our therapists practice on a private pay basis (with exception to Sara Bowe).
This means that they are not in network with your insurance companies. However, we strive to find a balance between being affordable while still honoring fair pay to the therapists. Most of our session prices range from $100-$150. We also frequently have a supervised intern who offers therapy sessions from $50-80.
You still may be able to use insurance!
Some clients use an FSA/HSA card to pay for session (couples counseling typically not covered). Others contact their insurance to check for out-of-network benefits. Your insurance company may provide you with reimbursement and still count your bill toward your deductible. If you need help check out https://reimbursify.com/individual-page/
Why do you limit use of insurance?
Many providers are facing challenges in their relationships with insurance companies due to issues with credentialing and billing. While there is much to discuss about the lack of fairness in this system, here are the key points:
Reimbursement rates are unreasonably low and non-negotiable, making it difficult for small private practices to cover even basic expenses without considering salaries. You may also find it informative that healthcare professionals are prohibited from comparing reimbursement rates with others in their area.
Credentialing and billing processes are complex, consuming valuable time that could be spent meeting clients. This inefficiency hinders providers from focusing on client care. Many providers hire a fractional biller but then must face even more expenses.
Waiting months for reimbursement from insurance companies adds financial strain to practices.
Getting credentialed with insurance companies can also be a lengthy process, despite high demand for services. Providers often face rejection due to insurance companies claiming that they have enough providers in-network while clients continue to experience long wait times.
We understand your need to access the healthcare benefits you’re paying for. While we can’t accept most insurances, we are committed to offering reasonable rate options and also provide limited pro bono sessions for clients facing financial challenges.
