Likely a good fit if….

✔ Looking for a genuine therapeutic connection based on warmth and empathy, not a strictly clinical approach. Coldness is not my vibe!

✔ Eager to gain new perspectives and drive positive transformations, acknowledging that change, though tough, is vital for personal development (realizing that your current lifestyle may be more difficult in the long run!)

✔ Committed to transformative growth through therapy, not just a quick fix.

✔ Tired of consistently prioritizing others over yourself and ready to make self-care and self-prioritization a central focus.

May not be a great fit if….

✘ You are expecting me to carry the session with minimal talking – I’m here to listen and provide support, but I can only work with the information you bring.

✘ You’re feeling pressured by someone else to attend therapy and not fully committed to the process yourself.

✘ You're the expert of your own life. Let's work together on your journey.

✘ You’re just not yet ready to actively engage in the process of change and growth.

Meet Alex Anderson

  • Clients appreciate my warm and genuine approach, seeing me as a real person rather than just a traditional therapist. They feel like they would encounter the same person if they met me outside of therapy.

  • Discovering that I am my own toughest critic has been a game-changer. Letting go of self-judgment and shame has given me freedom and peace. Embracing forgiveness for the past is a powerful act of self-care.

  • I became a therapist to make a difference based on my personal struggles with mental health and those of my loved ones. Looking back, I realized the vital support a therapist could have provided during my formative years. I understand the pain of feeling invisible and pressured to act "fine." My aim is to offer a safe place for others to open up authentically, forming meaningful connections. Being a therapist brings me great satisfaction and purpose.

  • Embarking on my personal journey with anxiety has been eye-opening, shaping my understanding of mental health struggles. Throughout my life, I grappled with anxiety until my 20s when I finally recognized its impact. Reflecting on my experiences, I discovered the roots of my anxiety and identified coping mechanisms like people-pleasing and constant productivity. This newfound awareness has allowed me to prioritize my well-being, knowing that it is a continuous journey. Having grown up around loved ones battling depression and substance use, I have gained empathy and insight into my clients' experiences.

  • I have to agree with Sara, “Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents” by Lindsay Gibson – I think everyone NEEDS to read this book! “The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog” by Bruce D. Perry & Maia Szalavitz – this book has stuck with me, and offered me such a deeper understanding of attachment/childhood trauma and the impacts that can last into adulthood.

o I’ll add a third – “Maybe You Should Talk To Someone” by Lori Gottlieb – a memoir by a therapist that shares her impactful and amazing experiences with her clients.

  • Prioritizing self-care is key for me and something I encourage my clients to do as well. I'm always tackling personal challenges like people-pleasing and setting boundaries, and I'm open about my journey. Saying no when needed and engaging in activities that energize me, like hiking, dog cuddles, sports, and outdoor adventures, are crucial parts of my routine. Disconnecting from technology and putting my phone on silent is one of my favorite ways to recharge.
